SCAD SERVE aims to design, present, and produce hands-on extended learning workshops where SCAD SERVE Alumni Ambassadors guide students on how to improve community well-being through the planning and creation of community-based outdoor murals in our hometowns of Atlanta and Savannah.
Drew Borders (B.F.A., animation, minor motion media design, 2020), our summer 2023 SCAD SERVE Alumni Ambassador, will lead SCAD students in the creation of bright, organic, and fun pieces of art in communities that need them most. Our SCAD SERVE Alumni Ambassador will share their story as a working artist and SCAD alumnus while inspiring, encouraging, and spreading messages of positivity and support along the way.
Help Drew transform the pavement at Howell Park, (983 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA 30310) by registering for one or multiple shifts to apply paint and transform this environment. No painting experience is required, all skill levels are welcome to help!

Transportation will be provided daily for each shift. Please be at least 10 minutes early for your shuttle. Volunteers may use other transportation to reach the mural location, too.
- A morning shuttle will depart from the breezeway at 1600 Peachtree St at 7:30 a.m. and return at 11:30 a.m.
- An afternoon shuttle will depart from 1600 Peachtree at 11:30 a.m. and return by and 3:30 p.m
We will provide everyone a SCAD SERVE t-shirt on site. Please wear closed toe shoes for your safety and protection. We encourage volunteers to prepare themselves for working outside. Bring a reusable water bottle, apply sunscreen, and wear a hat to help protect yourself from sun exposure. All volunteers must be in good health to participate. Your well-being and the wellness of our community is important to us.
Please contact Assistant Director of SCAD SERVE Nick Libretti (Nlibrett@SCAD.edu) if you:
- can no longer volunteer due to symptoms of illness or exposure to COVID-19 (seek medical attention)
