Description

Join SCAD SERVE and the SCAD School of Foundation Studies at Sand Arts Festival Friday, May 6, 2022. Volunteers will join in the effort to restore the beach to its natural state at the end of the festival. In collaboration with Tybee Clean Beach, volunteers and community members will work together to pick up and remove unnatural debris and litter from the sand before the "SCAD SERVE Sandcastle Stomp" at 4 pm. We invite everyone to use their feet to flatten the sandcastles and restore the natural level of the sand. This will help nesting sea turtles and other wildlife return to the beach after the event.

Volunteers will meet at the Hive Bus Stop at 2:15 pm. Everyone will be provided a SCAD SERVE t-shirt if you do not already have one. Wear shorts or pants you can move, bend, and reach in but do not wear swimwear, please. The weather is sunny and warm, so applying sunscreen is helpful as well as bringing a hat and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

The bus will depart from The Hive Bus Stop at 2:30 pm and bring volunteers to the Sand Arts Festival. At the conclusion of the event, all volunteers must return to SCAD on the SCAD SERVE Shuttle, departing Tybee Island at 6:15 pm promptly.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Lauren Slaydon at 912.247.8917 or LSlaydon@scad.edu
