Lend a Helping Hand at SCADBack40 (SAVANNAH)

Lend a Helping Hand at SCADBack40, SCAD's very own sustainable, organic, urban farm and apiary on Friday, April 2 from 9am to 12 pm. 

Volunteers will work to harvest produce, maintain the gardens, and tend to the plants growing this season. SCADBack40 produces tons of produce and honey that is donated to America's Second Harvest of the Coastal Empire, which helps relieve hunger locally. Help make this possible by volunteering your time. 

Transportation to the SCADBack40 will be provided. Volunteers will meet at the Hive Bus Stop at 8:30 am. Please wear clothes that will allow you to get dirty, and also to protect you from the natural environment we will be working in. We will be working in gardens and in community with active bee hives. THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE NEAR LIVE BEE HIVES, PLEASE CONSIDER THIS FACT IF YOU HAVE ANY BEE ALLERGIES.

Prepare for working in the sun as well, a hat will be helpful for sun protection. Shirts with sleeves and pants that allow for bending, sitting, and moving is helpful. Wearing a shirt with SCAD on it is helpful for pictures and to create a unified look. Please plan to wear closed toe shoes for your protection, and of course, masks are required for the entirety of the event. Volunteers should also bring a reusable water bottle to refresh themselves at a distance far away from the group. The bus will return volunteers to the Hive by 12:20 pm. 

All volunteers must be in good health, pass their SCAD daily health screening, and not experience any symptoms of illness. If you are unwell, do not come to the event! Instead, seek medical attention and contact SERVE Adviser, Lauren Slaydon 912.247.8917.
