Join us as we clean and beautify the Springfield Canal with Savannah River Keepers.
Springfield Canal is the waterway between The Hive and Boundary Village, behind Turner House. Due to its course, it has a larger impact on our community than what we can see. Help us beautify and care for this waterway and in turn, care for our community.
On Friday, March 26 from 2-4 pm, volunteers will work independently to collect litter and debris from along the canal area to beautify and renew this ecosystem. Under no circumstances will volunteers need to or be required to go in the water. Savannah River Keepers will provide gloves, clean litter collectors, and trash bags. The group will meet in the area behind the SCAD Mail Center.
All volunteers must wear appropriate clothing to participate. This includes closed toe shoes, t-shirts and pants that allow for bending, moving, lifting, and a strong potential for getting dirty. If you have a SCAD shirt, this helps our group keep a unified look. All volunteers must wear a mask for the duration of the event to participate. Any volunteer that arrives on site without appropriate attire will be asked to leave. Your well-being and safety is important to us.
