Distribute Food at Sustainable Fellwood Apartments- Faculty/Staff shift- (Savannah)

Thank you for volunteering to help distribute boxes of food to residents and community members of the Sustainable Fellwood Apartments. Your time and effort is going to benefit so many people.   

 On Saturday, March 20 from 10 am to 1 pm we will need 20 Faculty and Staff volunteers to help distribute the cardboard boxes with non-perishable items to residents in the apartment complex. Faculty and Staff volunteers will work in teams or be assigned as a team leader to work with student volunteers to distribute the boxes to the homes of residents. Volunteers must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds, the full weight of a donation box.    

All volunteers must be in good health, must pass their daily SCAD health screening and temperature check, and must wear a mask and socially distance themselves through the event. If you are feeling unwell prior to the event, do not come. Instead, seek medical assistance and contact SERVE Adviser, Lauren Slaydon (912.247.8917)  

 Faculty and Staff volunteers are welcome to drive themselves directly to the event site, Sustainable Fellwood Apartments, located at 1325 Exley St., Savannah GA. Street parking is available throughout the complex. Please intend to arrive on site by 9:45 am. All volunteers will meet at the check in area at the playground to sign their liability waiver, confirm attendance, and receive your event t-shirt. We ask that all volunteers wear the provided shirt, so please wear something that is easy to change when you arrive.   

In addition to the provided t-shirt, we ask that all volunteers wear clothing that is suitable for this event. This means closed toe shoes and pants or shorts you can move, bend and lift in. Those who arrive inappropriately dressed for this event will not be able to participate.  Your safety is a top priority.  

Faculty/Staff volunteers will work in small groups to deliver boxes of food directly to residents of the Sustainable Fellwood Apartments with student volunteers. One team will be dedicated to delivering food to Phase III, a community of elderly residents. Additional directions will be provided on site the day of the event.   

 To maintain a safe work environment, food will not be available for consumption on site. Please plan to eat before or after the event. Meal coupons will be available for The Hive dining facility for interested volunteers to use after their shift concludes.
