SCAD SERVE is proud to continue our partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that supports refugees and immigrants rebuilding their lives in Georgia. For this event, volunteers will help sort and organize in-kind donations such as clothing, household goods, hygiene supplies, and more. These essential items are given to families and individuals as they begin their transition into safe, stable housing.
Volunteers will work with IRC staff to ensure donations are properly categorized and accessible, allowing IRC caseworkers to quickly connect refugee clients with the items they need. This is an essential step in helping newly arrived families start over with dignity and comfort.
The event will take place on Friday, April 25th, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the IRC Atlanta office, 2305 Parklake Dr. NE, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30345.
Transportation will be provided via the SCAD bus, which will depart from the Breezeway at 8:30 AM sharp. The bus will return to campus by approximately 1:30 PM.
Please wear comfortable, casual clothing and closed-toe shoes, as you may be lifting and moving items. Water and light snacks are recommended, but all necessary sorting supplies will be provided.
Important Notes: Volunteers must sign a liability waiver before participating. In the event of any changes or inclement weather, please monitor your SCAD email for updates.
