Volunteer with SCAD SERVE Friday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. helping the SCAD Ceramics Club glaze various bowls for the Empty Bowls Innative with Emmaus House. Learn about the art of Ceramics, how they are created, and how to properly glaze ceramic creations. Emmaus House believes in the dignity of all persons, providing warm meals, hot showers, and fresh laundry services to anyone who visits their door. Now, SCAD SERVE has an opportunity to help create ceramic bowls that will be sold during their Empty Bowls fundraising event for the shelter.
Volunteers will meet at 412 E Anderson St, Savannah, GA 31401, Garvin Hall (Previously known as Anderson Hall) at 1 p.m. shift to meet a SCAD SERVE Fellow and Ceramics Professors, to become familiar with the glazing process. The Ceramics Studio is found on the 1st floor of Anderson Hall, on the opposite side of the building from where you enter. It is recommended that volunteers wear comfortable shoes to move and walk in, as well as SCAD SERVE t-shirts or other SCAD apparel. Shorts or pants you can move, bend, and lift in are recommended, and remember to bring your own reusable water bottle. Please bring clothes you do not mind getting dirty! Aprons will be provided, but if you have your own, please bring it.
The SCAD Bus system operates during weekdays and weekends, so please take the bus route that best works for you to arrive at Garvin Hall early or on time. Parking is available for students driving their own vehicles.
