Join SCAD SERVE, Savannah Riverkeeper, and Fight Dirty Tybee at either the Tybee Pier or North Beach for this multi-location clean-up! Learn more about Fight Dirty Tybee here.
Date: Sunday, May 11th
Time: 6-7:30 pm
Description: Volunteers will wrap up their weekend by the seaside collecting litter and debris from the shores of Tybee Island. Volunteers will work independently to collect litter and debris from along the coast line to beautify and renew this ecosystem and protect the plants and wildlife. Under no circumstances will volunteers need to or be required to go in the water. Fight Dirty Tybee will provide clean litter collectors and any materials necessary to complete the task. We will be at two different locations: Tybee Pier or North Beach.
Transportation: A SCAD bus will be transporting volunteers from the Hive to Tybee Island. Please check in with SCAD SERVE Fellow Lilli when you arrive. The bus will pickup at 5:20 pm and will drop volunteers back off after the event concludes. You are welcome to drive yourself in your personal vehicle. Please meet at Tybee Island Pier (1509 Strand Ave, Tybee Island, GA 31328).
Attire: All volunteers must wear appropriate clothing to participate. This includes shoes, t-shirts and pants or shorts that allow for bending, moving, lifting, and a strong potential for getting dirty. Do not wear bathing suits to participate in this activity. Please wear a SCAD branded t-shirt or a SCAD SERVE t-shirt, this helps our group keep a unified look.
We will inform volunteers in advance of the event if we need to cancel due to inclement weather. Please check your SCAD email to stay up to date with all SCAD SERVE communication.
For your protection, consider sun screen, bug spray, a hat for sun protection, a reusable water bottle to refresh yourself, and a snack as you may get hungry.
All volunteers must register in advance of the event and be in good health.
