SCAD SERVE volunteers will spend time in America's Second Harvest of Coastal GA's new state of the art facility in the Kid's Cafe.
Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, 5/14. If you're unable to make your shift, please cancel your registration 48 hours in advance as spots are limited.
Volunteers will plate food that is cold into to-go boxes and send them through the Oliver machine to seal them with plastic. They end up looking like a 'tv dinner' type when finished. America's Second harvest staff will heat the meals up in the oven and take them to 85 sites. A tour of new facility will follow the shift.
Attire: Please email your size to SCAD Fellow Morgan Spadacinni to pickup a SCAD SERVE T-shirt (mspada21@student.scad.edu). NO open toe shoes (i.e.: flop flops, sandals or clogs) allowed at any time. Please dress appropriately to work in a warehouse and according to the weather (inside / outside). Volunteers are welcome to wear ball caps or we provide hair nets. Please wear hair back away from face.
Physical activity level: While some of our volunteer activities require volunteers to be able to lift, we have plenty that do not. We welcome volunteers with all abilities and if you need to request an ADA related reasonable accommodation for your volunteer shift or would like to learn more about the activity levels for specific opportunities, please contact Sarah Maier at America's Second Harvest by email: smaier@helpendhunger.org for more details.
Transportation: SCAD buses will pick up at 8:30 am at the Hive parking deck close to the entrance and drop off after the event. You are welcome to drive yourself in your personal vehicle.
