Join SCAD SERVE and America‘s Second Harvest of Coastal GA for an art with the kids event. This month’s installment of Kids Café we will be working with the kids to create mini cardboard looms so they can experiment creating their own tapestry weavings. Using a threaded tapestry needle and a simple under and over technique, the kids can chose from a variety of colorful yarns to customize their art project to their liking!
What is the Kids Café? Kids Café is an after-school program for children who are at risk for hunger. It started in 1989 when two young boys were found in a community center looking for something to eat. The program ensures that children have a safe, nurturing place to go during the critical hours after school when parents are often working. In addition to receiving a meal, children participate in tutoring and enrichment programs. All volunteers must fill out the attached waiver to participate. This event in indoors with seating, bathrooms, and drinking fountains available.
